Problem:

The DDC IC (also known as the booster) for Xbox One X and Series S|X consoles is not available for purchase from electronics distributors. When faced with a 'no video' issue, the initial hope is that the problem lies with the redriver or the HDD. However, once these components have been replaced and the circuitry thoroughly inspected, the likely culprit becomes the DDC IC.

Currently, the common approach involves sourcing parts from a donor system. Buying the IC from third-party sources such as eBay comes with a high cost and no assurance of functionality. While there are diagrams circulating within various groups and repair forums suggesting a "bypass" of the DDC IC, doing so exposes the 3.3V level logic to potential damage from the 5V HDMI port side. I do not recommend "bypassing" the DDC IC. You can cause irreversible damage to the SoC side.

Solution:

This particular design is tailored specifically for the Xbox One X, but the same board can also be seamlessly installed on both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X models. This alternative board serves as a substitute for the conventional DDC IC found in the most recent iterations of Xbox One consoles.

Key Features:

Overcurrent Protection: In the event of a 5V short circuit to ground, the board provides overcurrent protection on the port side. This safeguards the console against potential damage cable side damage.

Electrical Isolation: When the console is powered off, the board establishes an electrically isolated path for the 5V, DDC SCL/SDA, and HPD signals between the console and the TV.

Electrical Level Translation: Enables voltage translation from the 3.3V System-on-Chip (SoC) side to the 5V HDMI port side. This translation is applied to key signals like DDC SCL/SDA and HPD between the different voltage domains.

These features enhance the restores the functionality and reliability of the original factory DDC IC while protecting against potential electrical risks associated with 'bypassing.'

      Installation:

Installation requires the use of a hot air station and micro-soldering. Only attempt if you are qualified to do rework.

Simply remove the defective DDC IC from the Xbox One X, Series S|X board, place the assembled PCB in the DDC IC area, and run jumpers to the corresponding pads. Refer to installation instruction photos in this product listing.

When installing, ensure the backside of the interposer is insulated from the Xbox motherboard. Kapton tape works well for this purpose.

As shown in the first picture, the board cut outs align with the Xbox One X capacitors and resistors. No need to install the board to the side.
